Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Transmits and receives coded and conventional messages. Being an Emergency Dispatcher differentiates between routine, priority, and emergency messages, and initiates or follows through on responses as required. Communicates details of situation and location. Additionally, Emergency Dispatcher enters unit response details into a database. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Dispatcher works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.       • Towing, InShop Repair, Roadside Repair, Spill Response, Cargo Recovery, and Load Services.
    • What We Expect From You:
      • Work between 25 to 35 hours per week in 3 to 5 shifts throughout the 24/7week. The majority of shifts are after standard business hours to include evenings, overnight, holidays, and weekend shifts.
      • Your Shift Schedule will be relatively consistent, but exact shifts will vary.
      • Must be able to do orientation at our Auburn, WA location.
      • Must be able to cover an intermittent Auburn, WA InOffice Shift for InOffice dispatchers' Time Off Requests.

    Standards and Expectations For This Job

    • 1 to 3 years of high pressure phone, dispatching, or service coordinating experience.
    • A job history that reflects your commitment to serve your company, and not just the company serving you.
    • You must have a laptop awake at all times for electronic dispatch notifications. You must have the phone system and your computer nearby, to immediately answer and respond to every call.
    • Pro-Tow will provide a multi-line desk phone and a portable phone. Our phone equipment plugs into your home internet and connects virtually to our phone system.
    • You must be able to handle easily 3 to 4 phone phone calls at the same time and the pressure that comes along with it.
    • General knowledge of the state of WA and extremely proficient with Google Maps.
    • You must have your own laptop with Windows 10 or later and in good working order with sufficient high speed internet access.
    • You must be able to type accurately greater than 40wpm.
    • You'll have access to an on-call supervisor at all times.
    • We utilize Microsoft Teams for consistent conversation and communications throughout our operations.
    • Additional information:
      • This is a W-2 Position, not a 1099 position.
      • This is an overtime and minimum wage exempt position in compliance with RCW 49.56.130 and 49.46.010. This is because you can reside and/or sleep at the place of employment (your home), spending a substantial portion of your worktime not engaged in active duties.
    • You will be assigned a variety of tasks to be done while not directly dispatching and answering the phones.
    • There are times that you are able to do personal tasks while working as long as you meet all job standards and expectations.
    • Sleeping or going to bed during a quiet shift is not permitted.
    • Must not use drugs (including marijuana at all, in any method, and have not anytime within the last 6 months) and cannot consume alcohol during working hours.
    • Must meet WSP criminal background check standards.

    Types of Calls

    • Impounded cars: Customers that have had their cars impounded can be frustrated and less than pleasant. These callers must be served in a formal, legal manner.
    • 911 dispatchers: When there's an accident, 911 dispatchers will call for tow services. They require quick, professional and immediate response.
    • Private customers and companies: When clients require our towing or mechanical repair assistance, they require attention to detail and exceptional customer service.
