Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. HOURS: Full-time, 40-hour varying schedule with on-call. Some holidays and weekends required.
REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent. Current Montana State EMT-B certification. Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license CPR (required). Minimum of six months of EMT experience in an ALS or BLS service preferred.
DUTIES: Applicant is responsible and accountable to assist and respond in the delivery of optimal care to the ill or injured patient in the pre-hospital environment. The ground ambulance EMT is responsible for assisting in the delivery of care and performing skill and/or procedures accountable to standing orders, written protocols, standard medical operating procedures, Montana Board of Medical Examiner, Department specific, Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital standards and protocols, or direct medical direction communicated through direct orders in person, by radio, cell phone or telephone to their licensed scope of practice. Responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of FMDH and STAT Ambulance Services, assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the pre-hospital and transport continuum.
