Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of EMS Clinical Education Coordinator.
Responsibilities: This 12-month, full-time position participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational program offerings, and prepares and delivers clinical/skills training related to EMS both on and off campus as needed. The position validates and records student clinical/practicum time and patient contacts; assists with the preparation of program and accreditation reports.
Qualifications: Associate’s degree with a minimum of five years, or cumulative equivalent, of recent EMS field experience required. Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years, or cumulative equivalent, of recent EMS field experience preferred.
Experience with EMS education/instruction and processes. Possession of or the ability to obtain: NREMT Paramedic license, State of Nebraska Paramedic and Instructor license, ACLS and PALS certifications, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance.
Salary: Begins at $20.12 per hour with excellent benefits.
