This position is advertised as a 24-hour shift, working two (2) shifts weekly on a rotating schedule, with the opportunity for overtime if desired.

Other EMT / AEMT positions with a different rotating schedule may start at a higher yearly rate. Please inquire during the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergent and non-emergent calls, providing care and transportation to patients in need.
• Assess patients' conditions and determine the appropriate course of action
• Administer necessary medical treatments and interventions.
• Monitor patient vital signs and ensure hemodynamic stability during transport
• Communicate with facility staff to provide accurate patient information.
• Document all medical procedures, assessments, and treatments accurately and thoroughly.

Required Skills

• Strong anatomy knowledge to understand the human body and its systems.
• Drive and ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situation.
• Proficient in assessing vital signs and recognizing abnormalities.
• Skilled in patient assessment techniques to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to move patients safely.
• Excellent patient care skills, including compassion, empathy, and effective communication.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to understand and use it effectively.
• Familiarity with state and agency protocols and procedures for efficient patient transfer

Tuition Assistance / Scholarship

Full-time EMTs, AEMTs and Intermediates are eligible for Tuition Assistance / Scholarship to AEC's Paramedic course in Bristol, Virginia. Interested parties should inquire at time of interview.
