Position Overview
The Diversified Technician (as designated): • Provides basic nursing care (i.e. personal and restorative care) to patients according to predefined guidelines, a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse, and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services will be utilized. • Functions as a member of the nursing unit team by performing routine clerical and receptionist duties as designated by the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Shift Leader.• Assists in patient care by monitoring all patients on cardiac telemetry units; identifies rhythms, changes, and dysrhythmias; maintains communication with nursing; and states/reports to the Charge Nurse.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from a Nurse Aide program and/or equivalent experience. If certified, program must be recognized by State of Mississippi Department of Health. Must be able to successfully pass a basic EKG course and identify rhythms and arrhythmias (if applicable).
Must complete BCLS certification by the end of position orientation. Must maintain current BCLS certification.
Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past three (3) years.
Keen mental faculties to perform data collection and patient care. Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress level for 6-8 hours/8 hour shift associated with care of acute patient/SO, fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers.
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Auditory acuity to hear verbal communication and gather data using auscultory skills. Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 6-7 ½ hrs per 8 hour shift and adroitly manage multiple pieces of equipment/tubes/invasive lines. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue. Must have high energy level and be capable of handling high pressure situations. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation.
