Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. San Luis Ambulance employs over 140 staff members including Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Registered Nurses and other office support staff. There are eight crew stations located throughout the San Luis Obispo County, for rapid response to 911 calls.
SLA is seeking Full-time and Reserve (Part-time) EMT’s. This position will be working in San Luis Obispo County. This position is non-exempt hourly position, eligible for overtime.
JOB SUMMARY: An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B), assists Paramedic partners with the delivery of Advanced Life Support (ALS) care.
