Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. An EMT responsible for completing a 2 person BLS crew that will respond to 911 calls for service, provide appropriate patient care, and complete electronic patient care reports for each incident. In addition, the crew may be asked to participate in stand-byes, public events, and public outreach programs during an assigned shift. The individual will also be responsible for completing daily house duties and other tasks deemed necessary and assigned by the Chief, President, Operations Supervisor, and/or Deputy Operations Supervisor.
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 19 years of age
2 year experience as a certified New Jersey or National Registry EMT-B
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
Ability to operate as part of a 2-person crew including patient movement / lifting
Technology proficient
Have availability to workday shifts to include some holidays and weekends (anticipated schedule below)
