Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Any EMT in paramedic class that produces documentation showing completion of IV therapy training is permitted to initiate an IV on patients if approved by the attending paramedic.

Each crewmember must maintain their physical fitness throughout the year in order to meet the physical demands that may confront them while performing their duties. It will also serve them well in their overall health and wellbeing. A physical fitness test (PFT) will be administered to the employee on an annual basis. The test will be administered during the employee’s date of hire anniversary month. The employee is required to pass the PFT with at the least a satisfactory rating.

Minimum Qualifications
* While working for Century Ambulance Service, Inc., the EMT must have on his person at all times: Florida driver’s license, EMT license, and BLS card.
