Suburban Emergency Medical Services is an EMS leader in the Lehigh Valley and Monroe County, PA, employing approximately 150 employees in a progressive customer service and growth model. Today, we serve a population of 132,038 across a primary district that spans 232 square miles in 19 different municipalities. In addition, we serve over 2.5 million seasonal visitors.

The Executive Director has overall responsibility for leading the Suburban EMS organization, integrating it into a high performing entity, establishing its strategic direction, and managing the external environment, coordinating and guiding the efforts of its Leadership Team, and assuring its accountability as a nonprofit healthcare provider, consistent with both the vision of the Board of Directors and sound fiscal policy.
OPERATIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Communicates the importance of the delivery of high-quality emergency medical services to the public and the provider community
Acts as the organization’s principle “voice” and liaison to the Board.
Develops short and long-term strategic objectives for the Board and provides and clarifies strategic direction for the Leadership Team and other managers.
Develops, disseminates, and implements best practices based on industry standards and employee and customer feedback.
Evaluate process, organization, and technology options and resolve escalated business issues.
Works with the Leadership Team to implement Board decisions on policies, procedures, compensation, and other matters.
Searches for and applies for grants, executes contracts, and applies for the release of approved funds.
Meets with regional healthcare providers and municipalities on a regular basis to determine their satisfaction with Suburban’s services.
Acts as a steward for the Leadership Team to establish and implement structures for assessing the effectiveness and economy of service delivery.
Works with the Director of Finance and the Director of Operations to identify resource needs and make recommendations to the Board regarding capital purchases.
Researches and communicates changes and trends in the industry and reports these to the Board and the Leadership Team.
Maintains knowledge/awareness of implementation and effective dates of legislation affecting emergency medical services operations and reimbursement.
Promotes Suburban EMS to the community and acts as its official spokesperson in the community and to the media.
