Deputy Director of Adult Services

  • Summary of Work

    This position will direct, advise and coach adult Parole and Probation and Pretrial Services leadership and adult correctional facility Wardens on all matters related to community supervision and institution operations. Duties will include agency wide oversight as a deputy director and leader, responsible for management, planning and staff coordination of all ND DOCR adult correctional facility operations and adult community supervision (parole, probation, and pretrial). This position will develop and implement policies and procedures, and establish goals and objectives to ensure uniformity between facilities relating to the manner of managing an incarcerated and community parole and probation population total of nearly 10,000. Provides leadership and directions to the administrative operations of adult community supervision and institutional facilities making effective use of budgets, personnel, and other related functions.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, business or public administration, or a behavioral science or other related field, and at least six years of high-level leadership work experience that includes management of team members, fiscal, and material resources. A master's or other graduate level degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.

    Preference will be given to candidates with prior ND DOCR management experience, professional experience leading a correctional facility or facilities, or managing a community supervision division or large region(s).
