    Job Summary:

    This position is for two Emergency Department (ED) Directors; one for Rosebud, SD and one for Pine Ridge, SD.

    Rosebud, SD is a 35-bed comprehensive medical/surgical hospital. This facility offers outpatient care, dental, immunization clinics, women’s health services, and more.

    Pine Ridge, SD is a 45-bed hospital and is the largest in the Great Plains Area. A 16-physician staff sees medical, obstetrical, pediatric, and surgical patients. The facility includes full service general surgery, an obstetrical ward, and dental.

    A one-year contract is available with 4 one-year options to extend.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Provide medical leadership for case reviews, quality of care monitors, ongoing and focused professional practice evaluation, codes, patient transfers, and patient complaint investigations.
    • Shall maintain an effective, ongoing, data driven quality assessment and performance improvement program (QAPI) for Emergency Medicine and report the results through the hospital wide QAPI process.
    • Serve on medical committees as requested.
    • Provide ED services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to all patients presenting for care in the Emergency Department or elsewhere on the hospital campus with an emergency medical condition.
    • Ensure emergency department provider coverage on a 24/7 basis.
    • Act as observers for patients in the ED and during off-campus transport of patients requiring mental health or other services not available at the facility as needed.
    • Abide by the Facility's Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations that govern medical staff behavior.
    • Employ the principles of emergency care for life/limb threatening illness or injury to include resuscitation and stabilization, triage, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition. Emergent care of critical patients may include on-line EMS medical control for paramedical personnel managing patients in the field.
    • Ability to use Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other technology.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    • Current American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) certified physician.
    • Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Medicine Administrative experience.
    • Emergency Department experience within the last 24 months of hire.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the management of pediatric and obstetric patients, including obstetrical emergencies, such as precipitous deliveries.
    • Possess a current, valid, unrestricted medical license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
    • Maintain valid and current certification and provide proof at the time of application in the following:
      • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS).
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),
      • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS),
      • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and
      • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
    • Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
    • Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.
      • One letter shall be from the Chief of Staff or Lead at the hospital where the physician holds or last held staff privileges.
    • Active, unrestricted DEA license.
    • Does not have, nor has ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon application.
    • Technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
    • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
    • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
    • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
    • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

    Pre-employment Requirements:

    Drug and Alcohol Testing:

    To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


    Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

    Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


    Emergency Response:

    Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
