    Position: Development and Communications Director

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Status: Full-time / Exempt / On-site

    Summary of Position

    The Development and Communications Director is a vital member of the Girls Inc. of Greater of Lowell team; the position is responsible for providing an advanced level of administrative support in areas of donor communications and gift management, as well as event coordination. Focus areas include managing the fundraising database, coordinating the administration of the donor acknowledgement program, coordinating fundraising communications, social media and the annual fund appeals, and donor events.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Database Management:

    • Manage the fundraising database to effectively process all gifts, pledges, and payments, ensuring accuracy of all data, including all donor information.
    • Generate financial reports for all revenue received.
    • Execute queries and prepare mailing lists for mail and email campaigns.
    • Prepare analysis of fundraising campaigns results and donor giving patterns to help determine effective fundraising plans.
    • Research potential donors.

    Donor Recognition and Stewardship:

    • Assist in development of and execution of a Donor Stewardship Plan.
    • Generate all donor gift acknowledgement in a timely manner.
    • Generate all tax statements for donors.
    • Develop impact and annual reports for donors.

    Event Administration:

    • Help plan for and execute logistics for all donor cultivation and appreciation events.
    • Provide logistical and communications support for all special events.
    • Serve as the agency liaison for all 3rd party fundraising events.
    • Manage all special event budgets.

    Fundraising Communications:

    • Develop and implement a year-long fundraising and communications calendar that coordinate all printed and digital communications, including social media.
    • Administer mail and online appeals regularly throughout the year.
    • Manage the organization’s website presence including routinely updating content.
    • Coordinate the writing, design, preparation, production and distribution of Girls Inc. brochures, publications, and collateral materials.
    • Represent Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell in community events.
    • Create reports and presentations for grant funders and assist with grant writing summaries.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop a strong social media presence and keep content up to date.
    • Create quarterly e-newsletter.
    • Research and evaluate “requests for proposals” and opportunities for grant funding.
    • Work with the Executive Director, Program Director, and grant specialists to assist with grant writing as needed.
    • Serve on the Fundraising and Special Events Committee of the Board and attend Board meetings.
    • Participate in special projects and take on additional tasks as required.

    Qualifications:

    • BS/BA Degree
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills.
    • Two or more years of experience in non-profit fundraising.
    • Strong record of accomplishment meeting individual performance and organizational goals.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with data management or transferable skills with a proven track record of success.
    • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work well with staff at all levels of the organization as well as board, volunteers, community members and parents and have an elevated level of professionalism.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative team atmosphere and be willing to work with the objective of achieving team goals.
    • Ability to support day to day operations in a fast-paced environment with independent judgement and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive materials.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge and experience of Bloomerang Database.
    • Graphic design ability.
    • Experience working in all social media platforms.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary ranges from $75,000 to $80,000. Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. A benefit package is also offered.

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    This position requires the ability to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the physical ability to perform light lifting. Work is performed in an office, and this person may be required to travel to various locations in the Greater Lowell community.
