Employee Communications Director manages the development and implementation of all internal communication programs within an organization. Oversees the design and implementation of communication programs to support and reinforce organizational objectives and comply with regulations. Being an Employee Communications Director manages project deliverables and timelines. Ensures consistent messaging themes and effective content selections. Additionally, Employee Communications Director manages the collaboration with public relations or corporate communications teams to produce clear and consistent communications. Assists in evaluating and selecting vendors to provide support services. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Employee Communications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Employee Communications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • This is important professional work in strategic marketing, development of promotional campaigns, programs, and related material, and preparing and providing appropriate, timely, accurate information to over 3,500 City employees across multiple office locations, including employees in the field. Work involves planning, coordinating, and executing internal marketing and communications plans; presenting highly professional oral and written communications to the City departments and employees; establishing professional working and trust relationships with other City departments; developing and implementing internal communications campaigns and programs both organization-wide and in specific departments; planning and facilitating employee engagement events; developing and implementing a new Intranet application; utilizing data-based insights to adjust strategies and plans to meet communications goals; and arranging and preparing marketing plans, including traditional and digital materials.

    Salary: $57,631 - $91,881

    Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

    • Have a valid Bachelor’s degree with major course work in marketing, journalism, public administration, public relations or a related field.
    • Have experience in marketing, communications, public relations, employee engagement, or relevant field.
    • Have significant experience in creating, arranging, and preparing marketing campaigns and materials, such as posters, brochures, news releases, and website content.
    • Have excellent interpersonal, public relations and presentation skills.
    • Have strong project coordination and project executive skills.
    • Have knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of journalistic writing and editing, including all forms of social media and web content.
    • Be able to work closely and effectively as a team member with various internal and external staff.
    • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

    Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

    • Have experience performing writing, editing and public speaking in a professional setting, preferably for a government or media/public relations entity.
    • Are able to quickly and competently conduct research using the Internet and other sources.
    • Are familiar with project management principles, digital marketing and proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite tools, and video shooting and editing.
