    We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations. Your role will involve identifying potential hazards, implementing safety protocols, conducting training programs, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

    Responsibilities:
    - Develop and implement environmental health and safety policies and procedures
    - Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations
    - Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
    - Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving workplace safety
    - Provide guidance on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    - Develop and deliver training programs on various safety topics
    - Stay up-to-date with changes in environmental health and safety regulations
    - Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to environmental health and safety
    - Coordinate with external agencies, such as the EPA, OSHA, and local authorities, as necessary
    - Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws

    Experience:
    - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field
    - Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental health and safety roles
    - Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation laws
    - Experience in conducting root cause analysis for accidents or incidents
    - CPR and First Aid certification preferred
    - Ability to fabricate training materials for EHS programs
    - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
    • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as use of safety equipment, hazardous condition monitoring, and safety laws and regulations.
    • Select and train EHS Committee volunteers and lead EHS Committee activities.
    • Plan and conduct emergency response drills.
    • Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances. Incident Management
    • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
    • Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.

    • Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

    • Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
    • Recommend material and process safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical and physical work hazards.
    • Review plans and specifications for installation of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
    • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
    • Plan and conduct industrial hygiene research and propose action plans to improve current state.
    • Install or direct installation of safety devices on machinery.
    • Collect data regarding potential hazards from new equipment or products (NPI/Change Control).
    • Collaborate with Engineers and Mechanics to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
    • Test workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to chemical or physical hazards (e.g. air quality, noise level).
    • Verify availability or monitor use of safety equipment, such as hearing protection or respirators.
    • Evaluate situations or make determinations when a worker has refused to work on the grounds that danger or potential harm exists.
    • Help direct rescue or firefighting operations in the event of a fire or an explosion.
    • Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
    • Confer with educational institutions, state authorities, or community groups to develop health standards or programs.
    • Conduct interviews to obtain information or evidence regarding communicable diseases or violations of health or sanitation regulations.
    • Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, air surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring (temperature and humidity).
    • Maintain or update emergency response plans or procedures.

    • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
    • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

    • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.
    • Conduct or direct testing of air quality, and noise levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Write and revise safety rules and guidelines for the facility.
    • Confer with expert consultants to assess health risks and to develop ways to manage health issues and concerns.
    • Prepare or review specifications or orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
    • Recommend corrective measures to be applied based on results of environmental contaminant analyses.
    • Collect samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection.

    Education

    • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Environmental, Health, and Safety Science related field.
