Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager.     Parkwest Bicycle Casino is seeking a highly motivated Employee Relations Specialist to our Human Resources team!

    The Employee Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive work environment by managing and improving relationships between staff and management.

    The competencies listed below are an overview of the essential duties and measures required to be successful in the position.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct investigations into complaints, ensuring thorough and fair processes are followed. Document investigation findings and make recommendations for appropriate actions.
    • Investigate concerns or complaints and allegations of policy violations, discrimination, harassment, or other misconduct by team members or management.
    • Enforce, implement, and communicate workplace policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
    • Advise management on policy interpretation and provide guidance on disciplinary actions. Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts between employees or between employees and management.
    • Facilitate open communication and dialogue to address and resolve issues in a constructive manner.
    • Provide guidance to employees on various workplace matters, including performance improvement, career development, and conflict resolution.
    • Develop and conduct training programs for employees and managers on topics such as conflict resolution, communication skills, and diversity and inclusion.
    • Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations and ensure that training materials are updated accordingly.
    • Collaborate with other HR members and management to address performance issues and implement performance improvement plans.
    • Tracks team member performance.
    • Provide guidance on fair and consistent performance appraisal processes.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives to promote a culture of compliance.
    • Communicate effectively with employees and management, providing guidance and information on employee relations matters.
    • Contribute to the development of internal communication strategies.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records.
    • Conducts exit interviews; responds to unemployment claims.
    • Able and willing to work any given shifts including weekends and holidays.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree ( in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or similar HR certification a plus.

    Two-Four years related experience in Employee Relations area.

    Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws. In-Depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations are essential.

    This includes understanding laws related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other areas impacting employee relations.

    Ability to speak any other language highly desired.

    Proficiency in ADP or other HRIS platforms and full knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs.

    • Must be able to work in office "onsite position" (this is not a remote position).
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment employee permit, badge or license.
    • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the .
    • Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test, criminal background and credit check.

    Physical and mental requirements

    • Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 25 pounds.
    • Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.
