Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Employee Development Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     SUMMARY:        

    The Development Specialist is vital in supporting and assisting department leaders and teams. Reporting to the Director of Development, the role will be responsible for individual and corporate giving support, managing the volunteer program, coordinating the Holiday Gift Drive (Reindeer Brigade), overseeing in-kind donations, data entry, and assisting with special events.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Data Entry/Administrative Support:

    • Coordinate, attend, and draft minutes and other documents for Development meetings. 
    • Assist the Development department with the following duties: scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars and contacts, meeting preparation, and follow-up, among other responsibilities. 
    • Regularly manage updates to the donor CRM database and constant contact mailing lists to ensure all contacts are properly moved through the development process and coded appropriately. 
    • Accurately enter donor and donation information into the donor CRM database.
    • Ensure data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.
    • Research constituents and add information to the donor CRM database.

    Special Events Support:

    • Assist in the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and fundraising events and campaigns.
    • Provide logistical support, including coordination with the venue, vendors, and attendees.
    • Assist with solicitation of auction items. Help with post-event evaluation and follow-up communications with attendees and sponsors.
    • Manage gift acknowledgment process and produce donor letters.

    Individual/Corporate Giving Support:

    • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to implement strategies to cultivate and steward individual donors.
    •  Assist in donor prospecting, outreach, and follow-up communications.
    • Maintain accurate donor records and implement donor acknowledgment processes.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Development to execute corporate giving campaigns and events.
    • Support the facilitation of corporate donations and sponsorships.

    Manage Volunteer Program:

    • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various organizational activities.
    • Ensure volunteers are effectively utilized and engaged in accordance with organizational needs.
    • Develop and maintain volunteer training materials and resources.
    • Ensure volunteers meet compliance requirements – background screening, required training, etc.

    Manage In-Kind Donations:

    • Assisting with soliciting, collecting, and distributing in-kind donations.
    • Maintain inventory records of donated items and ensure proper acknowledgment of donors.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to coordinate aspects of the in-kind giving campaigns, including promotion, collection, sorting, and distribution of gifts.

    Community Outreach & Engagement:

    • Attend corporate volunteer non-profit fairs to represent BGCSA and promote volunteer opportunities.
    • Attending community outreach events to represent BGCSA and promote the organization. 
       

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
    • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an area related to office administrative support, development, project management, or event coordination. Prior nonprofit work experience is a plus.  
    • Ability to take initiative with projects and work independently.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management software (experience with Boomerang is a plus).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
