Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Employee Development Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Summary:
    This position creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content using established best practices and pedagogical theory. Responsibilities include working with subject matter experts to identify training needs, managing projects, and providing instructional design services. Other responsibilities will include developing manuals, A/V resources and other ancillary learning materials as needed. Remote work within the state of Illinois is a possibility

    Duties & Responsibilities:


    • Provides technical expertise in the production, creation, and editing of instructional content.
    • Works as a project manager with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s project needs and deliverables.
    • Creates new digital and printed materials, including presentations, social media, factsheets, brochures, news releases, and other items that support projects.
    • Provides exercises, activities and assessments that enhance the learning process and contributes to the design or project deliverable according to deadlines.
    • Analyzes and applies trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

    1. A. Master's degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications, or philosophy AND Six (6) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching OR

    B. Baccalaureate degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities AND Eighteen (18) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, and related fields.

    Significant experience in instructional design.

    Experience with design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching.

    Experience with audiovisual design and/or production.

    Demonstrated history of professional service and collaboration with colleagues both within and outside of the institution.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of instructional technology and online education.
    Ability to apply principles of universal design and accessibility to all aspects of work.
    In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including professional writing and/or editing
