Employee Health Services Manager is responsible for managing the employee health service functions of the organization. Administers healthcare program operations and supervises subordinate staff. Being an Employee Health Services Manager ensures that all medical records are kept in a manner compliant with appropriate policies and procedures. May be responsible for administering employee physicals, injury related diagnoses, or other types of referrals according to OSHA regulations. Additionally, Employee Health Services Manager may provide consultation regarding workers' compensation, infection control or other employee health related issues. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. Typically requires a registered nurse. The Employee Health Services Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     POSITION SUMMARY
    : Under general supervision from the Human Resources Director (HRD), the Safety Coordinator supports all NVIH employees and site with oversight of the agency safety programs. The main focus of the Safety Coordinator is to ensure the highest level of employee safety is achieved through frequent monitoring of programs and work environments, communication with staff and management, and keeping up to date and recommending revisions to the agency Safety Programs as needed through risk assessment and compliance review.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:

    • Ensure effective employee Safety Program implementation and maintenance through training, engagement, audits, and recordkeeping.
    • Conduct and maintain Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for each position.
    • Ensure effective Safety Committee meetings are held periodically and carry out responsibilities in the Safety Committee Charter.
    • Manage workers compensation claims and conduct periodic claims review with carrier and broker
    • Perform ergonomic assessments and manage process from start to finish, including the interactive process and collaborating with site leadership, supervisors, and staff.
    • Ensure Respirator Fit Testing is conducted and maintain records, collaborating with nursing.
    • Support managers and supervisors with periodic safety training needs for staff meetings.
    • Maintain workplace postings at each site.
    • Collaborate with Infection Control personnel and department heads with periodic assessment of safety environment.
    • Accident/incident investigations involving employees with the goal to prevent accidents/incidents in the future; communicating appropriately with staff and management.
    • Report status of training and programs periodically to management.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience:


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.

    • High school graduate; degree preferred
    • 3 years’ experience in a safety role; healthcare setting preferred
    • Ability to speak publicly and effectively conduct in-person trainings
    • Ability to engage in problem solving and effectively communicate solution-based feedback.
    • Ability to build trust and gain buy-in from all levels of staff to ensure effectiveness of Safety Programs
    • Knowledge of safety programs required for compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies governing workplace and employee safety
    • Strong business acumen to support relevant solutions to safety challenges and needs.
