Employee Health Services Manager is responsible for managing the employee health service functions of the organization. Administers healthcare program operations and supervises subordinate staff. Being an Employee Health Services Manager ensures that all medical records are kept in a manner compliant with appropriate policies and procedures. May be responsible for administering employee physicals, injury related diagnoses, or other types of referrals according to OSHA regulations. Additionally, Employee Health Services Manager may provide consultation regarding workers' compensation, infection control or other employee health related issues. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. Typically requires a registered nurse. The Employee Health Services Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position: Director Lab Services

    Included Responsibilities: 

    In conjunction with the Site Medical Director and Laboratory Division Director:

    • Develops short and long range planning of all major activities and initiatives of Paoli; Provides input in updating the Business Plan annually.
    • Ensures laboratory’s service delivery effectiveness. Identifies opportunities for improvement in operational efficiency and implements action plans to realize improvements in areas such as instrumentation, procedures, staffing, and management.
    • Establishes and maintains an employee productivity measurement system.
    • Establishes an appropriate and cost-effective supply, procurement and inventory program appropriate to ensure timely provision of services.
    • Maintains and enhances MLHL physical facilities, including design and modification changes.
    • Enforces Hospital and System laboratory policies and procedures for all operating areas. Provides input to Lab Leadership on policy or procedural changes that may improve operations.
    • Coordinates closely with the LIS Manager to ensure optimal utilization and function of the Laboratory Information System.
    • Participates on appropriate hospital and System committees, e.g. EOC
    • Serve as a liaison with the Hospital Administration serving as the MLHL on-site representative for operational needs.
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of and ensures compliance with proposed and established regulations and legislation pertinent to the Lab. These include, but are not limited to, Local, State and Federal government.
    • In coordination with the System Director – Rapid Response
    • Facilities, site and MLCL Medical Director, is responsible to coordinate all inspection activities of the Lab. These typically include CAP, JCAHO, FDA, AABB, OSHA, and State.

    Training is on 1st shift

    Experience:

    Five years management experience acquired in a hospital and/or Commercial laboratory setting


    Education:
    BS/BA in related biological science required

    Thorough knowledge of medical technology generally acquired through B.S. or B.A. Degree from an accredited institution with a major in medical technology or one of the biological, physical or chemical sciences

    Masters Degree in a related science or business administration preferred.

    Licensures/Certifications:
    MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
