Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Employee Performance Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Job Description Summary:
    The Performance Management Specialist will design, develop, administer, analyze data, and recommend actions for the University performance review processes in accordance with institutional strategies and objectives. They will also design and administer performance competencies and skills structures.

    This position will be located on the Kansas City campus and may be a combination of in-office and remote work.

    Job Description:
    Required Qualifications:
    Education :
    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (HR), Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Degree requirement can be substituted with equivalent years of experience in HR.

    Work Experience :
    Three (3) years of experience within an HR discipline or in performance management/measurement.

    Supervisory experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Education & Certification :
    SHRM-CP or PHR

    Work Experience :
    Prior experience designing or administering performance management programs.

    Supervisory experience that included performance management responsibilities.

    Experience developing written communications for all levels of the organization.

    Experience with ERP/HRIS systems, preferably Workday.

    Skills:
    Data analysis, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or other statistical analysis software.

    Process evaluation and improvement.

    Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

    Skilled interpersonal communicator and adept at conflict resolution.

    Job Duties Outlined:
    Performance Management Programs

    Serve as lead contributor to the design and development of forms and processes for performance management elements, including performance reviews, development plans, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.

    Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization on the design and enhancement of performance management forms and tools.

    Co-lead efforts to transform performance management processes and collaborate with HR Tech Team regarding system updates and any design changes to performance management elements within Workday.

    Partner with Learning and Development and HR Business Partner teams regarding supervisory training on performance management topics, processes, and procedures.

    Draft appropriate and timely communication to the organization related to performance review processes.

    Manage communication plans regarding performance review processes in collaboration with HR leadership and university communications.

    Coordinate with Compensation team on annual merit process.

    Continually research and recommend HR best practices for the enhancement of performance management tools or systems.

    Recommend, design, and administer competency and skills models used in the performance management, recruitment, and employee development processes in partnership with other HR teams.

    Data & Analysis

    Analyze performance and related data for trends and feedback to management; provide performance outcome metrics at least annually to HR leadership.

    Complete analysis of performance data for recommendations for improvement to business processes.

    Review longitudinal trends in employee performance data and report to HR leadership for consideration of appropriate interventions.

    Compensation Statement:
    The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
