Employee Performance Specialist develops, implements, and administers programs that evaluate, measure, and improve employee performance. Conducts assessment activities to evaluate and identify the current and emerging skills, competencies, and behaviors required to achieve desired organizational results and prepare for future needs.     RN, Performance Improvement Specialist

    Full-time, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

    The Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for designing, establishing and coordinating clinical process improvement strategies. Will also assist in assuring compliance with accrediting bodies; will work with various medical staff functions and risk management – variances, sentinel alerts, near misses, and sentinel events. Works closely with the Medical Review Coordinators both in abstraction and reporting requirements.


    Responsibilities
    • Medical records review and data retrieval and preparation of reports based on data.
    • Conduct reviews as requested for specific areas as needed.
    • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and compliance with core measures.
    • Researches and recommends short and long term strategies to meet established goals.
    • Assists with the achievement of objectives and necessary modifications for attainment of goals.
    • Represents Unity Point Health (UPH) in a professional manner.
    • Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.
    • Works effectively and efficiently with large databases and spreadsheets.
    • Assures on time preparation, submission, and analysis of required reports.
    • Working in cooperation with the Supervisor and Director, is responsible for supporting providers and leadership with initiating, implementing, and evaluating improvement initiatives to meet the quality metric targets as identified in the Hospital Performance Improvement Plan.
    • Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, OSHA, CMS and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
    • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care.
    • Remains current on law/regulation changes, recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance.
    • Collaborates with physicians, leadership, and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
    • Maintains current professional expertise. Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job.

    Qualifications
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
    • Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
    • Minimum 3-5 years recent experience as an RN working in medical/surgical areas.
    • 3-5 years recent experience in Quality Improvement preferred.
    • RN Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa. Current certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
    • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as outlined per policy, or obtain certification within three months from hire date.
    • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
    • Knowledge of TJC and CMS accreditation standards, operations, and principle preferred.
