Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13 facilities with 22 micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.

    Job Description

    The Employee Relations Manager performs various duties, including serving as a subject matter expert on all compliance issues related to Human Resource functions regarding employee’s welfare in accordance with the organization’s internal policies.

    The salary range for this position is $72,257.00 - $82,294.00 per annum, depending on experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for ensuring that the organization’s policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and site contract regulations
    • Oversee the development and implementation of compliance training programs for employees
    • Ensure the organization is operating within the legal framework and avoiding any legal issues that may arise due to non-compliance 
    • Work closely together with the People and Culture Business Partner 
    • Collaborating with the legal department to communicate the associated requirements with every applicable HR-based regulatory and legal and compliance training programs.
    • Continuous updates on every employee-based regulatory and legislative changes and/or modifications and ensuring that developments in rules and policies are restructured with HR practices, articles, policies, and systems.
    • Researching changes in rules and regulations, analyzing their effect on the company, and communicating findings report to board of directors.
    • Draft policies and procedures to facilitate a better compliance stance in the company.
    • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of compliance-based communications and training to employees.
    • Conduct employee-relations investigations
    • Conduct regular site visits to all locations to be a People and Culture presence to address employee’s questions/concerns
    • Conduct Interactive Process relating to Leaves
           Perform other duties assigned by supervisors as needed.

    Expectations

    • Ability to identify, manage, and handle risk situations and implement policies or processes in order to avoid future risks.  Collaborate with Vice President of People and Culture to evaluate risks, develop SOP’s, and communicate on protocols to the organization. 
    • Ability to adapt to continuous changes within the work environment and schedule according to site compliance needs.  Adaptability includes adjusting to constant communication with different personality types. 
    • Develop strong alignment to work towards goals, mission, and values of the organization and align such work towards making effective decisions aligned with compliance for each site.  
    • Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence when making last minute decisions when handling conflict, strict deadlines aligned with risk management and compliance
    • Ability to continuously self-manage priorities and time to complete onsite projects successfully.  

    Preferred Experience/Minimum Qualifications

    Required:

    • Master’s degree 
    • 5-7 years relevant experience in Human Resources and Compliance 
    • 5-7 years relevant and proven experience with California employment law and leaves
    • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and summarize data in spreadsheets.

    Preferred:

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
