The University seeks an energetic professional to join the employer relations team within Career Services. This team partners closely with over 215 employers who annually seek intern and entry-level talent among 3,100 Colgate students. Additionally, they monitor the quality and relevance of opportunities posted on our online job board. The assistant director ensures a high-quality recruiting experience for employers and students alike. Employer satisfaction and retention are top priorities, and the work of this individual has a direct impact on these metrics.
Career Services is committed to supporting the successful launch of our students: with a 90% knowledge rate, 98% of respondents from the Class of 2022 secured employment, graduate/professional school admission, or a fellowship/scholarship within nine months of graduation. This position reports to the associate director of employer relations and sits among a highly-motivated team of 15 professionals.

Accountabilities:
- Develop a portfolio of potential and existing contacts to provide recruiting opportunities for current students.
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of relationship development with alumni, parents, and employers that results in employers seeking Colgate talent for diverse internship and full-time employment opportunities.
- Responsible for identifying and independently sourcing new target employers that represent the geographic and industry interests of Colgate students.
- Accountable for increasing the number and satisfaction of employer representatives who visit campus or are engaged in recruitment efforts. Responsible for sustained, longitudinal employer retention. Responsible for the high level of employer satisfaction in working with Colgate to recruit and employ students and graduates. Ensures accurate and timely capture of employer feedback. Accountable for maintaining productive recruiting relationships with existing employers to sustain, broaden, and/or deepen their engagement with students.
- Responsible to oversee formal internship recruiting and consortium programs (i.e.: Summer on the Cuyahoga).
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of two years of full-time professional experience.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to set priorities and take initiative.
- Must demonstrate an aptitude for building and maintaining relationships
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Must be team-oriented and effective working in collaborative environments.
- Must demonstrate a solid comfort level with social media, including LinkedIn.
- Must be able to articulate a passion for the advantages of a liberal arts degree and market the university to potential new employers.
- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of parents, alumni, employers, faculty, staff and students within a university context.
- Must be able to travel up to 10% annually.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of career services, recruitment, talent acquisition, or sales experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with alumni and parents to develop internship and job leads is preferred.
- Prior experience working with diverse student populations is desired.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required.
