Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operation products, is searching for an HR Employee Relations Specialist for our Columbus, OH location.

Responsibilities
- Partners with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that associates remain motivated and aligned to support the overall mission of the organization
- Assists managers with discipline and termination of associates. Prepares termination documentation and emails out term notices
- Administers exit interviews for resigning internal associates, maintains termination and resignation log, and provides copies of exit interviews to appropriate department leaders after final day of employment
- Conducts associate investigations with a high sense of urgency and documents all findings from investigations and takes necessary employment actions upon conclusion of said investigations
- Provides superior customer support by supporting the HR Hunt Group
- Manages the unemployment claims process for the company, including: completing initial request for information before deadlines, filing timely appeals, and representing the Company at all hearings
- Coordinates continuous improvement initiatives throughout the year as defined in the Human Resources corporate plan
- Coordinates and communicates engagement activities for Corporate associates
- Implements associate engagement programs
- Maintains the Company rewards portal. Establishes and updates best practices for management and provides recommendations on dollar amounts for additional programs
- Assists with Company sponsored social events
- Responsible for updating and republishing the Internal and Sales Associate Handbook on an annual basis, or as needed
- Assists in conducting the annual Associate Value Proposition (AVP) survey and communicating results
Qualifications
- College degree in HR, business or other related field preferred and 1-3 years of progressive experience in HR Employee Relations, generalist role or the equivalent work experience in Human Resources
- Maintenance of SHRM certification or Personal Development Plan to obtain one within 24 months
- Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications ( Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
- The ability to read and write small letters and numbers: the ability to make arithmetic calculations: and the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week in the office and 2 days remote
