Employee Services Director directs the selection, design, and implementation of employee engagement programs geared to attract and retain employees and promote a healthy and productive work environment. Evaluates programs focused on work-life, child care, fitness, discounts, remote working, education, training, and others to provide options that engage employees. Being an Employee Services Director develops processes to analyze and assess program utilization, employee feedback, competitiveness, and workforce productivity to ensure that a cost-effective mix of programs is offered. Designs policies and procedures to promote efficiency and optimize administrative hours to control costs. Additionally, Employee Services Director researches and remains up to date with evolving changes in the employee experience space to identify areas to improve employee engagement and work experience. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Employee Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Employee Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Mine Services Director is responsible for leading a team of professionals that are focused on the financial health and sustainability of the organization s aggregate resources which include duties in the areas of exploration, procurement, permitting, planning, and development. Additionally, this individual collaborates with other Wendling leadership to promote a values-based culture, efficiency, quality, and profitability within the business.

    Job Position Details

    Title: Mine Services Director

    Department: Mine Services

    Reports To: President

    Location: Dewitt, Iowa

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Leadership: Leads in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Wendling by modeling the way as a servant leader, setting the example for all others to follow. Invests time in self-development and growth. Motivates all those around them to achieve their full potential. Holds self and others accountable to the highest standards of safety. (Approximately 10% of time is spent on this function)
    • People and Culture: Ensures a highly safe, engaged, enabled, and aligned workforce by being a visible and vocal advocate for servant leadership and values-based leadership. Provide clarity, standards, feedback loops, recognition and reward programs, and career potential to ensure everyone knows and understands how to add value, and is aware of the opportunities to learn, grow, and develop. (Approximately 20% of time is spent on this function)
    • Mine Planning and Development: Responsible for the financial health and sustainability of the organization s aggregate resources by implementing knowledge of geology, mine planning, mine design, processing and extraction methods, exploration techniques, material testing methods, and customer specifications. (Approximately 40% of time is spent on this function)
    • Quality Control: Oversight of the Quality Control Department. Work with the Quality Control Manager to help troubleshoot quality concerns both proactive and reactive. Create alignment between departments that encourages the greatest utilization of the reserves that supports the overall mine plan. Contribute to the growth and success of product development. (Approximately 10% of time is spent on this function)
    • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute on the long-term strategy for Mine Services Department. Ensure strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded; and have the business savvy to adapt the strategy as needed given shifts in macro and/or micro conditions in the economy, industry, and marketplace. (Approximately 10% of time is spent on this function)
    • Network and Relationships: Develop a strong network of business, community, industry, and marketplace contacts and connections that can be accessed and leveraged. (Approximately 10% of time is spent on this function)

    Education Level: Bachelor s degree

    Education Major: Engineering or geology-related degree preferred, or a combination of work experience (5 years in mining and 5 years in management) and education.

    Direct Reports: Quality Control Manager, Mine Development Manager, Environmental Specialist, and Mine Planner

    Behavioral Requirements: Adherence to the company values and associated behaviors. Compliance with company policies.
