Description
The Manager M&R Services and facilities is responsible for overseeing all aspects of FMS Maintenance Services including Reefer, Chassis, Container, and GenSet Repair Services, and other miscellaneous billable maintenance activities, facility maintenance. The Manager M&R Services shall maintain a positive and safe work environment by assuring the profitability of Maintenance Services by using best business practices to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Directly responsible for the FMS Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Services Profit and Loss, FMS managed union labor in all areas of maintenance services operations, managing 3rd party vendor for chassis and container repairs.
· Ensures high customer satisfaction levels over provided services.
· Manages Work Order (or Estimate) to invoice process, seeks improvements for efficiency gains and measurability of the process.
· Participates invoice dispute resolution review meetings and identifies improvements to prevent revenue leakage.
· Works with procurement to ensure cost efficient and reliable parts supply, order food and beverages, equipment, and supplies.
· Reviews rate agreements of Maintenance Services and provides recommendation to rate schedule and pricing.
· Ensure the facility meets government health and safety standards.
· Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
· Repair and schedule routine check-ups for facility equipment, buildings and property.
· Respond to managers or employee maintenance concerns.
· Support the Safety Manager as requested.
· Ensures the safe and clean working environment through the adherence to state and federal regulatory agencies such as OSHA and through the performance of frequent inspections of all equipment.
· Develop management systems and performance measurement dashboards to transparently track and report on performance.
· Provide strong leadership, develop and set performance goals and act as a change agent.
· Investigates and implements long-term cost savings solutions to maximize profitability of the terminal.
· Maintains a working and professional relationship with MFOW, ILWU labor and OCU, and is knowledgeable in labor contracts and grievance procedures.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering
Supervisory Responsibility:
· Supervise 2 – 100 employees (labor) directly and indirectly.
Requirements
· Knowledge of terminal maintenance services operations, stevedore and vessel operations and equipment, physical and operations security.
· Working knowledge and ability to use computer for data input and word processing.
· Maintains a working and professional relationship with MFOW, ILWU and OCU labor, and be knowledgeable in Collective Bargaining Agreements and Safety contract. Experience in working in a union environment including in-depth knowledge of union grievance machinery procedures.
· Excellent skills in interpersonal, negotiation, time management, prioritization, and project management.
· Prior experience using Maintenance Management and Services Systems (Maximo, Depot System or Newport systems) or other computer-based Maintenance Services Systems and asset management systems.
· Prior practical experience with standard chassis, reefers, and container repair procedures.
· Familiar with 5S methodology
· TWIC Card: You will be required to apply for a TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential) through the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) prior to your start date. Failure to receive DHS approval, acquire, or renew a TWIC card may result in the termination of employment.
Physical Working Conditions:
· The ability to work in changing hot and cold climates based on weather conditions.
· The ability to drive a vehicle up to 50% of working hours.
· The ability to lift 30 pounds.
· The ability to use a computer/keyboard.
