Job description
Trauma Trust, a busy non-profit trauma practice, seeks a Certified Medical Coder to be responsible for all aspects of professional coding for trauma, critical care and acute general surgery.
Position is full-time Monday through Friday, onsite or remote.
Qualified candidates should have at minimum 2-3 years coding experience, surgical professional coding preferred, trauma, critical care, general surgery a plus.
Major Responsibilities:
· Ensures that professional services are captured and coded, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements.
· Evaluates and interprets medical records and reports in order to accurately code diagnosis and procedures.
· Correctly enters coding information into Epic electronic medical record system.
· Assists with the development of processes and procedures structured to ethically optimize reimbursement, limit liability and enhance data integrity.
· Keeps up to date on billing/coding guidelines. Maintains coding certification and necessary CEUs.
· Acts as a resource for coding issues and conducts provider education as needed.
Skills and Experience:
At least 2-3 years recent coding experience, experience coding surgical cases preferred.
Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM and CPT4 coding necessary.
Highly organized, self-motivated, detailed-oriented and energetic team player.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computers skills included MS Office, Internet, e-mail,
