  • As an associate attorney at VanEngen Law Office, PC, in our Missoula office, you will assist other attorneys in representing clients in a general practice law firm whose current case load consists primarily of family law matters, criminal defense, probate and estates, and personal injury matters.

    Duties of the associate attorney will include legal research and preparation of legal documents, including but not limited to: motions and briefs; discovery proceedings; trial hearings; briefings. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

    Detailed job duties include:

    * Legal research and draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefings and discovery requests.
    * Prepare case reports for trial; prepare written testimony on cases in court.
    * Conduct research to determine facts that may be relevant to litigation matters as well provide advice regarding issues related with civil rights/equity law.
    * Other duties as assigned and dependent upon client needs.

    Qualifications:

    * Must be licensed to practice in the state of Montana or be licensed by May 15, 2024.
    * Experience working with complex legal issues is preferred but not required.
    * Must be willing to work independently without direct supervision.
    * Ability to perform research into various legal topics.
    * Demonstrates strong analytical skills.
    * Strong written communication skills.
    * Proficient computer skills.
    * Self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    * Effective time management
