Endoscopy Technician performs various direct patient care activities in the endoscopy unit under the supervision of a physician. Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly. Being an Endoscopy Technician may assist with medical procedures. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Endoscopy Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Endoscopy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Position Purpose
Endoscopy technicians assist doctors and nurses that perform endoscopy procedures. They prepare and maintain the instruments and equipment used in endoscopy. They clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopy instruments and scopes according the standards of the facility
What you will do:
· Performs cleaning of endoscopes
· Assists RN's in admission process of pre-procedure and intra-procedure and, admission and discharge of post operative patients
· Maintains sanitary conditions of equipment, work areas and stretchers
· Stocks supplies delivered from hospital store
· Performs other job related duties as requested by supervisor or other registered nurses
Minimum Qualifications:
· HS. Graduate or a GED from an accredited school is required
· Graduate from a technical program preferred.
· Previous experience in an endoscopy setting preferred.
· BLS through AHA a plus
