Endoscopy Technician performs various direct patient care activities in the endoscopy unit under the supervision of a physician. Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly. Being an Endoscopy Technician may assist with medical procedures. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Endoscopy Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Endoscopy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitates gastrointestinal diagnostic procedures by preparing and providing the required supplies and equipment. Assists physicians and Registered Nurses during the endoscopy procedures.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Education: High school diploma. 1–2 years’ experience as a nursing assistant or medical assistant and/or LPN. Endoscopy experience preferred.
License/Certificates
American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in gastrointestinal procedures under the direction of a physician, assists in sterile processing and supply duties under the supervision of the registered nurse in the area. Functions well with other team members and shows initiative and judgment in anticipating the needs of the team. In downtime, assists department in picking cases, room turnover and supporting sterile processing. Other duties may be assigned.
