We are seeking a Director of Purchasing responsible for all procurement, purchasing, supply chain, and materials management activities for the organization. Duties include developing high-level strategy for the department, compiling processes and training with respect to all departmental activities, negotiating procurement contracts, managing inventory, tracking all internal materials, working with the accounting department on the accurate flow of materials, possessing the technical aptitude to analyze procurement options with minimal oversight, and managing personnel in the department. This position requires organization, authority, people skills, negotiation, and teamwork to be successful. Qualified candidates will be able to multi-task, prioritize, work well with the team, complete tasks efficiently, and be highly organized. Salary is commensurate with related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Major Responsibilities of Position
· Meeting the company’s requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing
· Developing procurement strategy for the organization and presenting recommendations to leadership
· Implementing industry best practices regarding procurement, supply chain, and materials management
· Creating purchasing and procurement policies and trainings
· Negotiating and having authority of procurement contracts in the best interest of the company
· Managing vendors and holding them accountable for delivery
· Understanding technical product specifications to effectively consider and decide on procurement options.
· Researching cost reduction opportunities and effectively implementing protocols to achieve related goals.
· Continuously researching alternative procurement options that meet product spec requirements to reduce costs, decrease risk, and dual source
· Overseeing inventory levels and managing optimal levels for all goods
· Accurately tracking all material levels and locations
· Working together with accounting department on the accuracy of inventory, BOMs, COGS, and associated costs
· Effectively utilizing internal software tools to perform departmental duties.
· Working closely with Materials Manager on the day-to-day tracking of goods
· Managing departmental personnel
· Availability to travel to vendor locations, industry events, various company locations, and other necessary travel outside the normal workday hours.
· Willingness for continued education and learning
· Professionally represent Harvest Solar as an ambassador to our vision, driving increased solar awareness.
· Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Certification Background
· Valid State Driver’s License, required.
· Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or another related field required. Two years of directly related experience may substitute for 1 year of a university degree.
· Ten years of a professional role in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials required; management experience preferred.

Work Environment
· Office Environment 70% of the time: Busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment is available including Microsoft Office.
· Travel Required 20% of the time: Position supports job site activities therefore daily and overnight travel is required. Harvest values our employees work life balance and whenever possible, overnight travel is Monday through Friday. Hotel and transportations costs are covered. Additionally, a food per diem is paid for overnight stays.
· Shop Environment 10% of the time: Position supports shop activities therefore, exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid and cold conditions.
