Energy Dispatch Director directs the real-time operations of energy dispatch centers. Responsible for ongoing transmission and distribution of energy. Being an Energy Dispatch Director aware of generation expectations and is responsible for minimizing risk and maximizing efficiency and economy. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Energy Dispatch Director demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Typically reports to a top management. The Energy Dispatch Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Director, Energy Efficiency

    This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Thursday, April 25, 2024.


    This position pays between $140,800 to $160,000 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

    About This Opportunity
    As the Director of Energy Efficiency, you will be engaging external stakeholders to identify potential new program areas and coordinate activities that support outstanding results. You will also be leading the approval process of three-year Energy Efficiency programs as the Company’s lead witness for its applications to the New Mexico Public Regulations Commission (NMPRC), and all aspects of preparation of required regulatory filings. Being the driving factor behind the achievement of customer participation and energy savings goals, your expertise will be a vital part of this invaluable department that will benefit New Mexico residents for years to come.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for planning and directing the Company’s three-year Energy Efficiency program, including stakeholder engagement to inform program content and regulatory support.
    • Accountable for overseeing program implementation and achievement of projected energy savings, consistent with commitments made during the regulatory approval process.
    • Directs the development and implementation of a marketing program to ensure customer awareness and participation in approved Energy Efficiency programs, including coordination with NMGC’s Corporate Communications department to ensure consistency with overall marketing and branding strategies.
    • Establishes and supervises the achievement of performance metrics for DSM/EE programs including participation, energy savings, and budget, and directs program adjustments as required to achieved approved objectives.
    • Represents Company in regulatory and legislative proceedings in support of DSM/EE programs and Company objectives.

    Successful Candidate Must Have:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field
    • A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record that meets the requirements of the company
    • Ten years of direct work experience performing the duties & responsibilities of this position
    • Five years of supervisory experience
    • Preferences: Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification. Energy Efficiency program design experience and/or experience with regulatory approvals of Energy Efficiency programs.


    Working Conditions/Physical Demands
    Normal office environment. May be required to work overtime and weekends. Moderate travel required. Ability to stand or walk up to 1/3 of the time and sit up to 2/3 of the time. Requires manual dexterity, good vision, and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
