Energy Dispatch Director directs the real-time operations of energy dispatch centers. Responsible for ongoing transmission and distribution of energy. Being an Energy Dispatch Director aware of generation expectations and is responsible for minimizing risk and maximizing efficiency and economy. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Energy Dispatch Director demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Typically reports to a top management. The Energy Dispatch Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Energy Dispatch Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. This position will be in charge of energy purchases and related coordination / portfolio management for all SG activities in North America, notably for natural gas and electricity as well as emerging energies and technologies. They will be responsible for the coordination of all energy related topics with the buyers embedded in the different entities/activities, as well as external service providers. This role acts as the main internal point of contact and decision-making for all topics related to energy, while also holding the external service provider accountable for the purchasing activities and timely execution of internal decisions. Constant communication both internally (across different types of stakeholders) and externally are a key element for success in this role.
