About this Role

Sr. Electrical Engineer, P.E. - NorthStar Energy Services a Quanta Services Company is looking for an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic Engineer to join our Professional Engineering Consulting team. The successful candidate will work alongside an amazing team of professional engineers and designers who specialize in Energy Projects.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the development of design parameters including design concept, engineering criteria, equipment and instrumentation specifications, equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis as it pertains to the design of Energy Facilities.

What You'll Bring

ENGINEERING - Electrical

• Conduct engineering analysis/calculations and oversee design activities for Electrical elements, including:
  • Area Classification and Arc Flash/Short Circuit Studies
  • Protective Relay Coordination
  • Electrical Equipment Specifications and Load Analysis
  • Large Motor Starting and Electrical System Modeling (ETAP)
  • Wiring Diagrams and Power Distribution/Control Equipment Sizing
  • Voltage Drop Calculations and Motor Control Schematics
  • Application of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and One-Line Diagrams
  • Conduit/Cable Schedules and Design, Point-to-Point Wiring, Lighting, and Grounding Design
• Familiarity with electrical design codes (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, etc.) is preferred.

DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT

• Ensure drawings comply with safety-first design practices, company standards, and applicable industry codes.
• Coordinate project-specific deliverables across disciplines.
• Integrate Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes in designs.
• Conduct QA/QC of drawing deliverables and review other discipline deliverables for design integrity.
• Perform field work for design information and respond to project RFI’s.
• Review vendor drawings for design compatibility and conduct field site assessments

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree from ABET accredited institution preferred.
• Preferred (but not required), a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas
• Minimum 5 years of experience in midstream energy or petrochemical sector
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the following software/programs:
• ETAP, SKM, or equivalent
• Microsoft Office Suite
