Additionally, Energy Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Energy Manager work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will facilitate the organization’s environmental policies, procedures, training, guidance, and response to technical issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety laws and regulations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role will be full-time, exempt and physically located at our plant in Akron, OH.
     

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Ensures compliance with OSHA and other environmental and safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels by developing new, or enhancing existing, policies and programs.
    • Creates measurable objectives that can be applied to evaluate the success of related programs.
    • Analyzes work environments to identify environmental risks; prioritizes and applies appropriate control mechanisms to address each concern.
    • Collaborates with manufacturing team to drive safety culture ownership and thorough hazard recognition and mitigation through the sponsorship of safety programs and conducting training and employee onboarding.
    • Oversees specific elements within PSM framework to ensure robustness and compliance including process safety information, incident investigation and training for employees and contractors.
    • Files, or oversees the filing of, required EPA, DOT, and OSHA reports.
    • Acts as the company’s representative in meetings or other interactions with compliance agencies and officials.
    • Maintains current knowledge of developments in environmental and safety fields, and changes in federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This may include actively pursuing training opportunities and attending trade conferences.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
    • Thorough understanding of Environmental Health and Safety standards.
    • Thorough understanding of the management of chemical and hazardous materials.
    • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and requirements.
    • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
    • Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills. 
    • Proficient understanding of PSM framework
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or related field required; Master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or related field preferred.
    • Certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental management preferred
    • At least ten years of experience related to EHS with at least three in a program management level role, required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    Salary Range: 
    • $95,000-$120,000 annual
