  • What The Role Is

    Reporting to the Director, Energy Management, the Associate, Energy Management will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of trading, hedging, risk management and optimization strategies for Clearway assets. The Associate, Energy Management will work in close coordination with the Market Fundamentals, Business Development, Origination, Asset Management, Credit and Energy Risk and Operations groups to manage Clearway's energy management transactions while working to scale capabilities within a rapidly growing organization.

    Location: Preference near existing office locations for hybrid engagements in San Francisco, CA, Carlsbad, CA, Houston, TX or Scottsdale, AZ

    What You'll Be Doing
    • Support all aspects of managing, analyzing, structuring, and negotiating energy management transactions as a key member of the Energy Management team.
    • Oversee the Energy Management documentation process leveraging Clearway's internal and external subject matter experts to bring agreements to execution (Trading, ISO, QSE, Investor LLCAs/Trading Annexes).
    • Work with Credit and Energy Risk to support the internal approval process.
    • Communicate with project stakeholders on market conditions, trading risks, and optimization opportunities.
    • Work with the Market Analytics and Credit and Energy Risk teams to develop and enhance tools for project limits, reporting, trade capture and the eventual implementation of an enterprise risk management system.
    • Work with each Regional Business and Project Development team to evaluate market opportunities and provide pricing guidance based on customer goals and priorities in alignment with project model underwriting assumptions.
    • Support customer pricing strategies and oversee the preparation of proposals and presentation materials.
    • Evaluate requests for proposals, support bid preparation process, prepare competitive analysis and manage participation in procurement processes.
    • Provide offtake analysis on new project opportunities (both M&A and greenfield) based on customer demand and value proposition.
    • Support colleagues in targeted relationship building activities with key customers.
    • Participate in energy working groups, professional organizations, trade shows & conferences
    • Track and report on policy and regulatory developments that will impact market strategy and customer opportunities, at the federal, state, and local level, leveraging Clearway's internal and external subject matter experts.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
    • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with respect to all functions of CEG.
    What You'll Bring
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering or related field.
    • 6 years of experience in origination, project finance, renewable energy, or other transactional industries.
    • Experience in CAISO, ERCOT, or PJM
    • Strong understanding of renewable energy markets and technologies.
    • Experience in supporting the structuring, negotiation, and execution of energy transactions.
    • Knowledge of the energy industry including regulated and de-regulated electricity markets and project financing structures and key value drivers.
    • Highly motivated self-starter, friendly personality, and good team player.
    • Attention to detail and inclination towards structure, organization, and process - as well as the ability to examine, question, and improve on the inputs and recommendations of others.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, track progress and needs of each, and provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time
    • Able to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel.

    The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

    Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
    $124,000$184,000 USD
