Energy Representative, Sr. is responsible for providing energy efficiency advice to customers. Develops, communicates, and monitors programs related to energy efficiency, sustainability, waste management, and environmental impact. Being an Energy Representative, Sr. develops and distributes educational material; evaluates and recommends alternatives to existing systems or processes. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Energy Representative, Sr. typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be an Energy Representative, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Position Summary:
The Energy Buyer is responsible for the purchasing, bidding, monitoring, and billing of energy. This may include but is not limited to deregulated electricity, natural gas, and potential self-generation. Manage overall purchases for energy. Develops short and long-term strategies for energy purchases as well as monitors key indices and market fundamentals for all energy bidding and adjustments to purchasing strategies. Although Migizi, EDC t is part of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, they operate under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain energy procurement and risk management strategies.
· Execute purchasing strategies to purchase power on behalf of the tribe per established parameters.
· Confer with direct Supervisor and team members to coordinate work schedules.
· Ensure compliance with all FERC, NERC, RFC, and MISO standards.
· Compiles and completes all MDMA requirements.
· Compile and complete all regulatory reporting and audit information to SCIT, RFC, and MISO as required.
· Complete quarterly reports detailing bidding and purchasing strategies.
· Complete meter billing data of end users; forward to appropriate personnel every month.
· Prepare for and assist in the stable growth of the energy desk, including the development of new energy procurement products and marketing materials.
· Coordinate and work with tribal entities as needed for efficient purchasing of required power loads.
· Communicate with utilities, local power-producing entities, FERC, ITC, and MISO to gather accurate and complete energy market intelligence.
· Oversee operations of computerized systems.
· Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
· Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
· Contact with contractors and engineers for planning and implementing of property growth in relation to electrical needs.
· Work closely with Accounting, and other pertinent departments necessary to complete tasks; interact with Utility staff to plan and implement growth and changes to the physical systems.
· Regular interactions with FERC, MISO, ITC, and power-producing entities.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or Business.
· Master’s degree preferred.
· Five years of experience in analysis, forecasting, and strategies as related to commodity purchasing or trading.
· An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
· Experience with MISO, ITC, and FERC processes and requirements.
· Strong organizational and computer skills.
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
· Must have a valid driver's license as well as be able to gain and maintain a Tribal driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge and understanding of the principles, procedures, and associated regulations.
· Knowledge of energy buying practices.
· Knowledge of MISO, ITC, and FERC.
· Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
· Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports.
· Skill in negotiating energy buys.
· Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
· Ability to meet the needs of the Tribal community.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
· Ability to maintain confidential information.
· Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
Physical Demands:
· Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers associated with computer equipment.
· Required to sit for extended periods and reach with arms and hands.
· Occasionally required to stand and walk.

· Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
· Normal office environment.
· Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
· Occasional travel will be required.
