Head of Unix Engineering
Jersey City, NJ - 3 days a week onsite

***MUST HAVE Investment Banking industry experience

Looking for some with hands on lead experience. Someone who has been a well-rounded Unix admin with experience in Red Hat / Linux / HP-UX and migrating those systems to the AWS cloud and then being an AWS Cloud Unix admin. Basically, help with the remaining Unix plant and then focus on AWS OS / Unix operations on the Cloud.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide strong leadership to a global team of UNIX engineers, fostering collaboration and driving excellence in system design, implementation, automation, and maintenance.
2. Streamline deployment processes and enhance overall operational efficiency by using CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
3. Lead initiatives to design, implement, automate, and maintain robust and scalable UNIX environments, supporting the diverse needs of the global operations.
4. Develop Terraform Enterprise and Ansible platforms modules, ensuring the seamless deployment and management of infrastructure as code across the organization. as
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative solutions, staying ahead of industry trends and best practices.
6. Work with Business technology partners to understand computing requirements and develop solutions.
7. Establish and enforce security measures to protect UNIX environments, adhering to industry standards and compliance requirements.
8 Drive continuous improvement by implementing capacity management, monitoring, and optimization efficiency strategies, obsolescence management, and ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance of UNIX systems.
9. Manage vendor relationships to evaluate platforms, understand implementation best practices, and troubleshoot operational issues.
10. Manage a team providing 24 x 7 operational support via Follow the Sun weekly work schedule and weekend on-call rotation.
11. Develop and maintain a product roadmap for services being developed and managed by the team.
Qualifications:
5 years' experience in a leadership role within UNIX engineering, overseeing global teams.
Expertise in creating and using CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
Hands on experience working with AWS Cloud Services
Hands-on experience managing Terraform Enterprise and Ansible platforms.
Product management development
Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
Strategic mindset and the ability to drive initiatives that align with the organization's goals.
Understanding of the Linux operating system and various protocols and platforms.
Investment Banking industry experience a Must
