Engineering Director plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within an organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives. Being an Engineering Director utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Additionally, Engineering Director manages overall engineering budget and costs. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to top management. The Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. They also facilitate a safe space to learn, where communication, collaboration and critical thinking are used to push their students to be their very best. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Prepares lessons, units and projects to complete learning objectives and assisting in selecting of books, equipment, and other instructional materials Prepares for instruction for each class Instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units and projects Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles and capabilities of students Encourages students to explore learning opportunities and career paths Creates, assigns and grades various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects Works with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention Tracks and evaluates student academic progress Leads parent-teacher meetings Maintains positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors Manages student behavior Creates and maintains a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment Communicates regularly with parents Helps students improve study methods and habits Administers assessments to evaluate students’ progress Attends and participates in professional, in-service, and faculty meetings Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods Accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aids and/or lab assistants Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations WORK ENVIRONMENT Other Physical Requirements Ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest. (If applicable: Must be able to perform sustained CPR with the subject on the floor.) Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
