POSITION: Billing Manager

REPORTS TO: Office Administrator

JOB SUMMARY: This position is a supervisor position for the billing department in a busy OB/GYN practice with 2 offices. This individual is responsible for the day-to-day billing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinates day-to-day operations of billing department staffing, including collaborating with third party billers and collection agencies
• Oversees policies and procedures to ensure timely and accurate billing
• Timely investigation and resolution of billing discrepancies
• Identifies solutions to challenges in and out of the billing department and implement process improvements in conjunction with Office Administrator as needed
• Communicates as needed with patients, staff and providers
• Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly
• Performs departmental annual performance reviews
• Perform other various duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or finance, preferred
• Accounts receivable experience required
• 2-5 years experience in a medical office setting required, OB/GYN experience preferred
• Previous leadership experience, preferred

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of medical billing or certification
• Knowledge of manual/computerized scheduling systems
• Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques

Abilities:

• Ability to multitask effectively, dealing with phone calls, in-office patients, staff, and others pleasantly
• Ability to assist with payment collection and posting
• Ability to resubmit, follow up and appeal claims
• Ability to assist with billing inquiries from patient and insurers
• Ability to operate standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software as well as scanners, printers and a cloud based phone system
