Anav Tribal Health Clinic is a tribally owned and operated by the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation located in Fort Jones, California.

The Business Office Manager is responsible for the oversite of Anav Tribal Health Clinic billing and revenue cycle management to maximize cash flow. The Business Office Manager will supervise and direct the staff of the ATHC Business Office and act as the point of contact for external vendor and payers regarding business office functions.

Essential Functions

• Supervises the patient billing, data entry, coding and collections.

• Direct, organize, and monitor all billing and collections operations to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and follow through on all accounts receivable streams.

• Assists and ensures provider applications for third-party payors is complete and submitted timely for billing purposes.

• Maintains provider application files in a secure location.

• Report on revenue cycle metrics monthly to the Executive Health Director and Comptroller.

• Work collaboratively with Comptroller to ensure accounts receivable data are reconciled between billing and finance systems.

• Coach, mentor, train, and counsel staff; and implement improvement plans when necessary.

• Ensures new employees receive training and are orientated to his/her position.

• Ensure accurate billing of insurance and patients and document billing denials from insurance providers and efforts to rebill denials.

• Evaluate billing processes, policies, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements and/or changes necessary for compliance with regulations.

• Consistently reviews and keeps up to date with recent codes and coding regulations; and shall organize training for staff, as necessary.

• Continually strive to ensure the confidentiality, security, and safety of patient records.

• Maintains appropriate internal controls over accounts receivable and cash receipt functions.

• Contributes to Quality Improvement activities as needed.

Competencies

Education

• Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field from a four-year college or university and and a minimum of 10 years billing experience is required; or equivalent combination of education and billing experience required.

• Preference will be given to a person with at least 5 years of billing management experience in the medical field.

• Employee must have successfully completed a medical terminology course. In the event the employee has not attended a medical terminology course the employee will be required to successfully complete a course with 1 year of employment.

Experience

• Experience with Electronic Health Records and RPMS reporting preferred.

• Certified Coder and/or biller preferred.

• Experience with supervisorial/leadership duties, with an emphasis on coaching/staff development.

Proficiencies

• Attention to detail that ensures clear, accurate, and timely documentation.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish relationships with payers and patients.

• Ability to read and interpret applicable regulations, laws, and requirements related to healthcare billing.

• Ability to organize departmental activities for multiple staff members that ensures seamless workflows and adaptability to changing priorities.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to pass background check.

• Must adhere to Tribal drug and alcohol policy, including pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
