Enrollment & Billing Representative is responsible for the accurate enrollment and billing process for an insurance organization. Maintains related documents, updates corresponding records and responsible for enrollment and billing query. Being an Enrollment & Billing Representative requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Enrollment & Billing Representative possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to accurately assign appropriate codes for billing purposes.
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, such as ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or incomplete documentation necessary for accurate coding.
- Verify and enter coded data into billing software or electronic health record systems.
- Investigate and resolve coding discrepancies or errors to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations to maintain proficiency in medical coding practices.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries or discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in medical billing or related field preferred.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in medical coding, specifically in areas such as outpatient services, physician office visits, or hospital coding.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems and billing software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
