Job Summary
Job Summary: Job incumbent maintains records for tribal members within the TCC Region whose tribes' contract with TCC for Tribal Enrollment services.. Additionally, position assists applicants when applying for tribal membership to a "contracted" tribe within the region and assists tribes as needed with new applications.
Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.
Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under general supervision of the Tribal Government Support Manager, job incumbent will:
1. Researches information on tribal enrollment applications and/or family history to determine verification documents needed, requests additional information or pertinent documents as needed, and calculates Alaska native blood quantum. Request of information may include death, marriage, divorce, amended birth certificates, or adoption documents as needed.
2. Establishes and maintains individual tribal membership records and client files. Keeps updated on individual village constitutions, or tribal enrollment codes/laws for eligibility purposes.
3. Develops and types correspondence to applicants/ members and/or tribal councils as part of determining eligibility on a regular basis.
4. Prepares and produces photographic on non-photographic tribal membership cards or documents.
5. Provides and assists clients in obtaining certified documents required to determine eligibility enrollment including but not limited to: affidavits of paternity, birth certificates, certificate of Indian blood, tribal court and/or state court orders, etc...
6. Update individual member enrollment records, including name changes, blood quantum's updates, adding legal guardians and/or adoptive parent's information, during enrollment audits and/or requested by individual member.
7. Maintains and provides current tribal membership rolls and/or eligible voter's lists to various tribal councils. Maintains and updates each Tribe's master membership roll.
8. Schedules client in-person or by phone appointments to issue/reissue a tribal identification card, tribal membership verification, and/or certified copies of enrollment records, as requested. Refers clients to available federal programs, counsel clients on use of tribal membership documents.
9. Trains new tribal administrators or tribal clerks on the overall process of tribal enrollment.
10. Responds to questions as it relates to tribal membership or enrollment, on a constant basis, due to heavy communication with the public.
11. Maintains confidentiality while at the same time understanding the importance of Natives' historical and present-day sharing of family tree information. This refers to the use of the Alaska Native Roll, an important reference for family research in Alaska.
12. Travels to the villages as requested to update tribal ids and information related to tribal enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications

6. Ability to compute simple mathematical calculations.
7. Knowledge of rural Alaskan villages.
8. Cross-cultural knowledge and experience helpful.
