Title: Enrollment Specialist
Reports to: Manager, Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment & Attendance (ERSEA)
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Salary: $23.72 - $26.72 hourly
Position Summary:
The enrollment specialist is responsible for the engagement of prospective families to assess their eligibility for the Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) Program.
Responsibilities:

Learns and adheres to the philosophy and mandates of Head Start and Early Head Start as outlined in the Performance Standards and the Policies and Procedures of Greater Bergen Community Action.

Explains the program to applicants to help them understand the requirements of the application process and to realize the benefits of HS/EHS programming.

Provides application, enrollment, selection, and tracking processes to Head Start and Early Head Start families.

Accepts, reviews, and analyzes all documentation to determine enrollment eligibility.

Verifies applications for income eligibility and follows through on incomplete applications.

Maintains and monitors waiting lists, child transfer lists, and pending lists based upon regulations established by Performance Standards.

Provides prompt follow-up with families to ensure that applications are complete.

Actively participates in recruitment events throughout the school year, which include a minimum of two (2) recruitment events each semester that occur outside of traditional working hours, performs community outreach, and is responsible for program option transitions. Schedules may be flexed at the direction of the supervisor as needed to accommodate hours worked for events.

Updates children’s classroom roster regularly.

Works closely with the Social Service and Special Services staff to ensure full enrollment at all sites.

Completes weekly enrollment reports to provide up-to-date information to Head Start/GBCA leadership.

Attends meetings and training courses as required.

Responsible for the overall safety of each child in the GBCA HS/EHS program.

Performs other duties assigned.
Knowledge of:

Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to preschools and childcare.

Knowledge of early childhood milestones/development.

Cultural and socio-economic issues relevant to providing appropriate services to special population groups.

Qualifications:

Communicates clearly and effectively.

Must demonstrate English proficiency - both oral and written

Demonstrates good computer skills relevant to the position.

Bilingual a plus.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes recruitment and community outreach efforts that occur during evening hours and weekends as needed.

Ability to physically care for the needs of the children in the classroom. This includes being able to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

Valid NJ driver’s license preferred and use of own vehicle for self-transportation; local travel is required.
Tier I:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field

Two years of prior administrative experience
Tier II:
-
Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED

Two years of prior administrative experience
Mandated Reporting:
As per New Jersey mandated reporting guidelines, any person having reasonable cause to believe that a child has been subjected to abuse or acts of abuse should immediately report this information to the State Central Registry (SCR). If the child is in immediate danger, call 911 as well as 1-877 NJ ABUSE (1-877-652-2873).
