Description

RQAW is looking for an experienced and hands-on Director of Architecture to lead our team in all architectural services, including planning, design, technical documentation, production and materials documentation, and client service. This role will be an integral part of our leadership team and collaborate with all RQAW disciplines.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Assist in the developing and monitoring the department’s QA/QC standards, procedures, architectural designs, and production standards.
• Coordinate the overall quality, management, and staffing of the architectural group.
• Promote career development, determine staffing needs, and coordinate workflow.
• Assign appropriate staff based on capabilities and performance reviews 
• Provide oversight and leadership for all phases of work by coordinating efforts with Project Managers and Division Director
• Participate in project debriefings with Department Director and Project Managers to go over Profit and Loss Statements and the project’s overall performance
• Assist business development, marketing, and other teams in responding to new business opportunities, including the preparation of proposals and participating in presentations
• Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders

Operations Responsibilities

• Effectively apply and improve department’s technology capabilities to achieve consistent and efficient production of high-quality projects.
• Review and approve time sheets, PTO requests, and expense reports
• Monitor and maintain Department’s Master Project List, monthly department billings, probability, and staff utilization 
• Review resource allocation, project assignments, and project schedules for accuracy
• Prepare project scopes, fees, and fee justifications in conjunction with the Department Director and Project Managers
• Ensure proper project set up and profit goal setting
• Provide and/or obtain accurate projections

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited College or University
• Registered Architect
• 15 years of relevant project experience in delivery of projects
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and build business
• Ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually
• Ability to think creatively, resolve abstract problems, motivate others, work collaboratively, and be self-directed
• Must be able to work from RQAW’s corporate office in Fishers, IN
