Enterprise Infrastructure Director manages and coordinates the information systems that will adequately support the organization's enterprise infrastructure. Monitors and manages all IT infrastructure projects to meet company and client needs. Being an Enterprise Infrastructure Director determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs, ensuring the scalability of infrastructure design to handle expected growth. Implements policies and procedures to maintain, enhance, and secure an organization's technology infrastructure. Additionally, Enterprise Infrastructure Director is responsible for monitoring the systems to ensure the highest level of infrastructure performance. May assist in network interface planning, hardware resource availability, and the development of new applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Director of Enterprise Architecture leads a team of architects and distinguished engineers to promote evolutionary architecture, systems thinking, and innovation.  In addition, the Director of Enterprise Architecture drives forward-looking architectural initiatives for the portfolio. Enterprise Architects also facilitate the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns across various solutions in a portfolio.  This position reports to a Vice President in the Technology organization.

    Day to Day 

    This transformative role will be working across leadership, understanding strategic themes and applying within their portfolio, synchronizing across solutions, identifying re-use across teams, and identifying use cases for emerging technology to lead through innovation activities. 

      

    • Collaborate with Product Management, Customer Success, and Technology Leadership to provide a high-level, all-inclusive vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives 
    • Define key technical initiatives that support budgets via technology evolution 
    • Drive strategic technology decisions across the Enterprise, ensuring alignment with business objectives 
    • Participate in defining and maintaining the architectural runwayto support current and future initiatives 
    • Define and steer the architecture practice across the Portfolio, providing thought leadership for domain leadership 
    • Drive architectural initiatives, participate in analysis, and identify innovative technical approaches and use cases 
    • Collect, generate, and analyze creative ideas and technologies to use across the business  
    • Consult on M&A activity within the Enterprise to assess capabilities, differentiators, and integration opportunities 
    • Communicate and negotiate domain-impacting business process architecture, enterprise architecture & software platform decisions with peers and Senior Leadership 
    • Advise and coach in a 1-on-1 or small group setting individuals who are accountable to them (e.g., System Architects) and engineers 
    • Work effectively with peers to provide thought leadership for domain areas across a portfolio and provide technical Leadership (e.g., architectural direction, design review, issue/risk resolution) for a portfolio 
    • Mentoring and coaching, in 1-on-1 or small-group settings, the individuals responsible for aligning solutions to architectural strategy  

      

    Required Skills 

    •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 
    • Preferred: 8-10 years’ experience delivering software in a developer or architecture role 
    • High level of understanding of relevant industry structure, including other participants in the industry group. Knowledge of particular business domains across the industry 
    • Understand the business process and business rules for a portfolio 
    • High-level understanding of relevant industry structure, including other participants in the industry group. Knowledge of particular business domains across the industry 
    • Experience with driving significant technology initiatives across a broad organization. 
    • Knowledge of the logical data models for many applications in the portfolio. Broad knowledge of the infrastructure and technologies widely used in the industry 
    • Applied knowledge of artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning, patterns, approaches, and technology, with a demonstrated ability to leverage these in architecting solutions 
    •  Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Systems or comparable work experience 

     

     Soft Skills Required 

    • Ability to verbally present the technical and business impact of a decision (technical or business) that is made at the Portfolio level and be able to present at Business or Technology Senior Leadership meetings 
    • Ability to create a visual message that presents solution options and architecture recommendations in a manner appropriate to the audience, including technical/business impacts of decision that is made at the portfolio level, and be able to present to Business or Technology Senior Leadership 
    • Ability to describe in a written format the technical/business impact of a decision that is made at the Portfolio level. 
    • Ability to craft communications to the level appropriate for portfolio stakeholders 

     

    Reasoning Skills 

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, and formulate reasonable solutions is a must.
