Enterprise Infrastructure Director manages and coordinates the information systems that will adequately support the organization's enterprise infrastructure. Monitors and manages all IT infrastructure projects to meet company and client needs. Being an Enterprise Infrastructure Director determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs, ensuring the scalability of infrastructure design to handle expected growth. Implements policies and procedures to maintain, enhance, and secure an organization's technology infrastructure. Additionally, Enterprise Infrastructure Director is responsible for monitoring the systems to ensure the highest level of infrastructure performance. May assist in network interface planning, hardware resource availability, and the development of new applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Director, IT Infrastructure

  • Primary Purpose:

    Provide leadership and management for all services that are performed by the Technology Infrastructure Team in Comal ISD. A focus on process, documentation and overall uptime are required.


    Education / Certification:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a specifically related field.
    • CCNP, MCSE, Azure Solutions Architect or equivalent experience and expertise.

    Special Knowledge / Skills:

    • 1Ability to concentrate and communicate effectively (verbally and written).
    • Excellent organizational and team participation skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with CISD, other districts, state and federal agency personnel who are involved in data processing.
    • Ability to market and sell Comal ISD and the Technology Program to the community.

    Experience / Other Requirements:

    • Five years of technology management experience to include ten years of professional level experience in IT Administration (Server, systems, database or network)
    • Experience managing five or more team members
    • Operations, systems, data base or network system support (hardware or software level) or information technology management consulting.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide Leadership for the Infrastructure Team.
    • Provide strategies for future needs.
    • Oversee and provide strategies for cybersecurity as well as provide reporting.
    • Oversee continual education of Infrastructure Team members.
    • Develop and maintain documentation.
    • Coordinate across teams within the Technology Services Department.
    • Coordinate and manage outside technical resources (contractor, telecom provider, service vendors, etc…)
    • Leverage Federal E-Rate funding for new technology procurement and ensure compliance with program rules.
    • Ensure federal, state and local guidelines are followed for all reporting requirements.
    • Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars approved by supervisor and read current professional publications to remain current in job responsibilities.
    • Maintain a work environment that is professional, friendly, supportive, and responsive to employees and the community.
    • Maintain the Technology Infrastructure budget.
    • Typical responsibilities: develops strategy, methods, procedures, and timeframes for system improvements and refresh cycles.
    • Identifies and recommends automated system enhancements and modifications.
    • Reviews case error statistics to evaluate and/or develop corrective actions related to system design and use; provides input to IT analysts and programmers regarding service requirements and impact of design and/or changes.
    • Responds to user inquiries by providing support and assistance in the definition of the problems addressed to application-specific staff and confers with IT staff and management to resolve related problems.
    • Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervise all team members within the Infrastructure team.
