The Operational Smart Grids Manager of Network Services will be responsible for the operation of the OT (Operational Technology) network (network, security, monitoring tools) utilizing best practices. They will ensure that products meet the Utility industry’s best practices and security guidelines, standing up new, leading-edge capabilities that will provide a reliable, interoperable, and flexible architecture adaptable to changing business and regulatory requirements. This role will ensure network devices are hardened and updated to protect from cyber-attacks. Candidates should have strong IT/OT skills with a deep understanding of networking, systems, and cyber hacker methodology to assure threat-informed security mitigations. Design and develop Operational Technology (OT) architecture solutions for supporting critical grid control systems (SCADA, etc.) and their regional interconnections. They also work closely with various Principal Advisors and vendors to develop architecture design documents that support the enterprise and grid strategies. Aligns business needs and capabilities to ensure enterprise architecture direction and standards are set, communicated, and maintained. Develops design specifications supporting new products under real-time environment, applications, and service offerings such as integration with emerging Distributed Energy Resources (DER) solutions. Facilitates the issue and resolution of architectural and cybersecurity design issues through a standard governance model.
Lead and provide vision and strategy to support Operational Smart Grids (OSG) Infrastructure. This includes Networking, Data Center, and Cyber Security. Develop OSG standards in concert with the Global Smart Grids team. Provide and define the technological direction of the Operational Smart Grids Networks Services team.
Deliver excellent levels of operational stability and reliability for the OSG systems. Define operational programs and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and reliability for OSG critical systems and applications.
Represent and interact with Global Smart Grids teams. Ensure the processes are in place and alignment with the Global Smart Grids strategy, monitoring the service level targets and providing reporting on a regular basis.
Lead a team of internal employees and external contractors across multiple states and several locations primarily NY, CT, MA, and ME. Manage internal/external on-call 24/7 support. Define and Manage Infrastructure (network) capital and operational budgets, including renewing support and technology agreements and establishing additional framework support agreements, for a flexible and scalable resource support model.
Manage core vendor relationships, including licensing compliance, procurement processes technical leadership, and negotiation. Ensure the enterprise has the capability to support new technology and maintain high levels of service. Create a sustainable OSG environment to facilitate growth while maintaining required regulatory compliance and end-user requirements. This is a management position responsible for multiple layers of geographically dispersed skilled technical staff. The candidate must have well developed management and leadership skills. Act as a local point of contact within the Global Smart Grids team regarding networking.
Have skills and possess experience with providing executive reporting level. Proven experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels across the company. The ability to mentor less experienced team members.
Knowledge of Business Continuity philosophies and methodologies, including practical experience in implementing technical solutions as well as Disaster Recovery philosophies and methodologies.
