    The Director of Operations will lead the warehouse and distribution strategies to increase safety, effectiveness, efficiency, profitability to be best in class. As a member of the Leadership team, this person will also serve as a liaison between top leadership and operations personnel. This two-way communication expectation will require an individual to lean into conflict resolution, ensure clarity, and be a continuous improvement-minded, self-starter with the ability to motivate and lead staff.

    Classification: Full-time position

    Supervision Received: Reports to Upper Management

    Supervision Exercised: Manages warehouse and distribution employees, about 150 total

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, etc. or related field

    License or Certification: Lean and/or Six Sigma, CLTD or CPIM, OSHA, HAACP preferred

    FLSA: Exempt

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead, create and implement best practices in warehouse and distribution policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Create operations strategies along with corresponding action steps and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
    • Communicate the strategy, plan, and KPIs to operations team clearly and frequently so the team and individuals meet expectations.
    • Hold operations team accountable to KPIs, strategic goals, and deadlines.
    • Solve logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality of service within budgetary requirements.
    • Take the lead to improve performance of warehouse efficiency, on-time delivery, lower freight costs, warehouse costs, and increase employee retention.
    • Drive increased efficiency of load planning, truck/trailer and route optimization.
    • Balance time between working alongside employees, analyze data to identify ways to drive improvement.
    • Monitor and control budgets, capital expenditures, material handling equipment and space utilization.
    • Facilitate and support initiatives that ensure the proper food storage, handling, distribution and safety as well as employee health and safety.
    • Oversee the organization of, cleanliness, and general order of warehouse and delivery trucks.
    • Primarily first-shift position, but also must be physically present as needed for second-shift to facilitate the ongoing growth and development of those team members.
    • Ensure compliance and timely filings with all operational government regulations such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, Seafood HAACP.
    • 7 years of experience in warehouse and distribution, preferably in the food service industry
    • 5 years of leadership experience in the distribution industry, including warehouse transformation, route optimization, scheduling, managing employee performance and directing employee’s day-to-day activities
    • Knowledge of food distribution processes, including, but not limited to HACCP, SOPs, Food Safety Modernization Act requirements
    • Strict adherence to all warehouse safety, food safety and general maintenance protocols
    • Must be a strong in continuous improvement
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism
    • Proponent of second-chance programs and an interest in mentoring employees with complex lives
    • Subject Matter Expert in measuring and improving basic warehouse metrics not limited to shrinkage, inventory turnovers, inventory to sales ratios, receiving/putaway efficiency and cycle time, total order cycle time, rate of returns, and picking accuracy.
    • Commitment to meeting and exceeding quality standards and customer specifications
    • Ability to quickly solve problems through critical thinking
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
