  • Brief Description of Responsibilities


    Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Operations manages all activities for successfully meeting and / or exceeding established key performance indicators regarding employee safety, food safety and product quality, production, order fulfillment, and employee training. Must put an emphasis on continuous improvement and performance enhancement utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles. In addition, the Director of Operations will lead and assist in the successful execution of all changes to existing products and processes as well as those new in the future. This includes but may not be limited to bill of material (BOM) development, process changes for existing products, assisting production developing KPI standards to be defined as well as improving OEE, and collaborating with both engineering, production, supply chain, customer service, EHS, engineering / maintenance, and food safety / product quality.


    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety regulations including GMPs, HACCP and OSHA in addition to established company objectives,
    • Maintain a clean and safe environment while observing all PPE standards and precautions.
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as FDA and USDA standards.
    • Maintain high standards and sanitation for both the production floor, equipment, and products.
    • Manages the daily Production activities to include Fruit Receiving, Grading, Squeezing, Bottling, Packaging and Warehouse in efforts to exceed company goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for monitoring and improving Wastewater, Storm water and Potable Plant water systems, Waste-to-Landfill, Recycling, but also to ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations.
    • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of Company Safety Program and ensures compliance with Local, State and Federal Safety Regulations and codes.
    • Provides technical assistance to other departments as required.
    • Ensures employee training on all Production, Safety, Food Safety and Quality Assurance related programs including HACCP, GMP’s, GLP’s, SOP’s and SSOP’s is executed according to established training schedules.
    • Provides technical assistance in troubleshooting, investigating and development of corrective actions to address non-conformances in Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation programs.
    • Implementation and Maintenance of SQF and/or other Food Safety and Quality Systems Management programs while achieving satisfactory program ratings.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain product quality protocols; assist with new product development and Research and Development projects; design and coordinate special testing and shelf-life studies.


    JOB REQUIRMENTS


    • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent grammar and strong writing/editing and proofreading skills for presentations with all levels of management and team members.

    • Ability to work extended shifts and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and Holidays.
    • Ability to work in a production environment which includes working in wet areas; areas with extreme temperatures (<20 F to >90F); exposure to moving equipment and forklift traffic; working with and around processing and / or sanitation chemicals.
    • Ability to travel to attend technical conferences and/or seminars and to meet with Suppliers when needed.
    • Effectively utilize a “Collaborative Team Approach” in all situations
    • Ability to challenge current state and be motivated to improve the business; ability to influence without authority at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to perform moderately complex and diverse tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent team dynamics skills focused on strong team leadership.
    • Sound and mature professional judgment, coupled with a high degree of professionalism and confidence.
    • Develop cost-based analysis to help justify costs associated with key process solutions.
    • Responsible for meeting and exceeding timing, goals, and objectives on assignments.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all initiatives they are managing.
    • Display an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to projects.
